Sevilla FC Women suffered a 0-2 defeat against Granada CF. David Losada’s team, who came into the match with high morale after winning at a tough venue like Lezama, left empty-handed against an opponent that capitalized on set pieces in a match where Sevilla never seemed fully comfortable against a side that has been somewhat of a bogey team for them this season.
In the first half, both teams battled for control of the ball, with the clearer chances initially falling to Granada. However, around the half-hour mark, Fatou Kanteh had a good opportunity on Sandra’s goal, but her shot lacked the desired impact. Shortly after the half-hour, following a cross, Postigo headed past Sullastres to score the first goal of the rainy afternoon at Sevilla’s training ground.
In the second half, which was a bit scrappier and saw Sevilla pushing for an equalizer, the Granada side managed to convert another set-piece five minutes before the end of regulation time through Edna. Despite Sevilla’s efforts right up until the extended stoppage time, they were unable to pick up any points at a venue where they have now gone several matches without a result.
Now it’s time to reset, make corrections, and focus on next Sunday’s visit to Badalona in search of three points before the next break for international duty.
