The RFEF Disciplinary Committee has decided to impose a one-match suspension on Sevilla FC players Carmona, Juanlu, and Isaac following a claim filed by Real Betis after the last derby. The claim was related to a celebratory photo of the academy players after the victory at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. They will serve the suspension this Saturday against Celta.
Sevilla FC has exhausted all administrative appeals with the Competition Committee, the Appeals Committee, and the TAD, and has even turned to the civil courts to block the sanction. However, the timeframes set by the decisions of the federative bodies have prevented the civil courts from reaching a resolution to halt the suspension so far, despite the club's efforts. In any case, the club will continue to await a resolution until the time of the match.
Likewise, Sevilla FC wants to express its dissatisfaction and disappointment with the procedure used by Real Betis to file a complaint regarding events that fall within the scope of healthy sports rivalry. In previous cases, Sevilla FC understood the context in which similar or even more serious incidents occurred and did not escalate the matters to a formal complaint, nor did it seek to gain sporting advantage through non-sporting actions.
For this reason, it considers that this procedure sets a dangerous precedent regarding the behavior of players from both clubs, and that it will be taken into account by the Sevilla FC organization in its relationships with both clubs, which have been disrupted.
