Sevilla FC has partnered with the BrainsFirst BV brand to apply cognitive assessment technology in the development of its youth players. The agreement, which lasts for two and a half years, focuses on improving player performance and talent scouting. With the new technological tools, Sevilla FC will incorporate cognitive skills alongside the other variables already monitored in the evaluation of the next generation of professional and elite players, such as physical, technical, tactical, and mental performance.
BrainsFirst BV, which works with top-level clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam, Real Sociedad, PSV Eindhoven, Bayer Leverkusen, Nottingham Forest, and Eintracht Frankfurt, offers a cognitive diagnostic platform that combines gamification with its neuroscience-based technology. Agustín López Páez, the Director of the Youth Academy, explains the goal of this collaboration as follows: "It will be crucial for the development of our youth players. It is a tool at the forefront of cognitive control in elite sports and will complement the coordinated and innovative work already being done within our academy."
A leap in quality in the training and development of the youth academy
For his part, Antonio Gutiérrez López, Project Manager at Sevilla FC, states that "from now on, we will be able to get to know our players and their potential more deeply, to help them in their development. Coaches will be able to make better decisions with objective and verifiable data, aligning with the club's data strategy and reinforcing the development of the strategic plan. To achieve this, we have our own resources, along with the experience of our new partner."
Jens Urlbauer, Business Development Director at BrainsFirst BV, explains why this partnership with Sevilla FC: "We are very pleased to work with a club that has a clear vision for identifying and developing its players and is incorporating relevant tools and services to achieve even greater success. The club aims to support its players in their transition to professional football, emphasizing the information obtained from data."
