Sevilla Atlético's impressive streak of five consecutive victories at the Jesús Navas Stadium came to an end. Against Marbella FC, after Tahiru's early goal, Jesús Galván's side never stopped trying to find an equalizer, despite continuous attacks in the second half. After a challenging first half, Isra and Hormigo had the best chances for the Sevilla B team. All of this took place once again in front of more than a thousand Sevilla supporters who backed the team from the very first whistle.
The first half would showcase two teams that, from the kick-off, tried to push the danger away from their respective areas. The team managed by Jesús Galván did not feel comfortable in the early stages of the match, showing more imprecision near the Marbella goal. The Marbella team, with the urgent need to earn three points to move out of the relegation zone, pressed and were rewarded with a goal. From a corner, Tahiru left his marker behind to head in a great cross from Callejón, giving the Marbella side the lead before the half-hour mark. Sevilla Atlético tried to recover quickly but were unable to equalize in the first forty-five minutes.
Hormigo and Isra came very close to finding the equalizer
Sevilla Atlético came out strong after the break, increasing the tempo. Alexandro, with a central shot from the edge of the box, registered the first chance of the second half. On the counterattack, though with little effectiveness, Carlos de Lerma's side looked for the second goal to breathe easier. A crucial save by Alberto Flores, diving low to block Dorian's shot, kept the match alive when Marbella once again felt comfortable on the field. Isra, who came on from the bench, lifted his head and found Hormigo in the box, but the latter failed to score with his left foot in the best chance for the Seville side to equalize.
Isra, taking responsibility on the left flank to find the equalizer, forced Dani Martín into another save with a powerful low shot, preventing the equalizer with a two-time save. Sevilla Atlético had another great opportunity from a corner, with a cross from Isra that passed along the goal line without anyone managing to finish it. After the match, the Sevilla B team will begin preparations for next Sunday’s fixture at 15:30 CET against Mérida AD.
