FOUR DEFEATS IN TOTAL IN THE LEAGUE - THE SAME AS IN THE TITLE WINNING SEASON BUT IN 12 FEWER GAMES

.Four defeats in total in the league, equalling the winner and destroying their record of the fewest defeats in First Division. Sevilla FC have been defeated in the season on just a couple of occasions. In Nervión they were only defeated against Real Madrid while away from home they lost at Los Cármenes, the Santiago Bernabéu, and the Camp Nou. Four in 38, when the record for the fewest defeats since La Liga was made up of 20 clubs - including briefly in 1987/88 with 22 teams - was the six games lost two seasons ago in 2019/20. Talking about ratios and in absolute terms, the Sevilla season in terms of defeats is a record given the number of games played.  

Incluso el año en el que se consiguió el único título liguero que reposa en las vitrinas del Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, en la 1945/46, se calcó la cantidad de derrotas de la recién finalizada temporada, con la diferencia de que en aquel entonces la Primera división la componían 14 equipos, por lo que solo hubo que disputar 26 jornadas. Cerraría el podio en este particular ranking el aún más lejano ejercicio 1939/40. Aquel Sevilla FC perdió cinco encuentros en 22 jornadas y fue el que menos derrotas cosechó de Primera, pero quedó subcampeón por detrás del, por entonces, Atlético Aviación, que le superó por un único punto. Eso sí, ampliando el espectro para incluir la Segunda división, todavía se encuentra una temporada con menos derrotas, la 1933/34. Fue la que desembocó en el primer ascenso a la élite y conllevó solo dos partidos perdidos de 18, finalizando como brillante campeón.

Even in the year in which they won their only league title in 1945/46, which is in the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán trophy cabinet, matched the number of defeats from this season with the difference that in that period the First Division was made up of 14 teams, which meant only 26 games had to be played. The podium for this particular ranking is rounded off by going even further back to 1939/40. That Sevilla FC side lost five games in 22 and it was the fewest in the First Division but they finished runners up to Atlético Aviación who beat them by a point. Expanding this to include the Second Division a season with fewer defeats can be found in 1933/34. It was then that the first promotion to the elite was achieved with only 2 games lost in 18, finishing as the champion. 

Another record that can be picked out is that for the first time in its history Sevilla FC have not lost a league game by more than one goal in the same season. It is worth noting that both in Los Cármenes and Camp Nou, the final result was 1-0. The defeats against Real Madrid were 2-1 and 2-3 respectively. In fact, none of the games lost in the three other competitions break this rule. In the cup it was a 2-1 defeat, in the Champions League 1-0 against Lille and 1-0 against Salzburg, while in the Europa League it was 1-0 both in Zagreb and London.
