Five Sevilla players were in international action on Thursday, in which there was attention to both the European and African continents. The first to play were Augustinsson, Dmitrovic and Gudelj, who faced off in an interesting League B tie between Sweden and Serbia in Solna in the UEFA Nations League. All three completed the full ninety in a fixture in which the Balkans came out on top thanks to a strike from Luka Jovic in added on time of the first half. Now at the halfway point of this international campaign, the group is topped by Norway with seven points, one more than second placed Serbia. Sweden fall behind with three points and Slovenia are in last place with one point. Next up, Sweden will visit Oslo on Sunday at 18:00, whereas Serbia visit Ljubljana to face Slovenia from 20:40.
However, the Sevilla player that stole the headlines was Youssef En-Nesyri, a goalscorer in Morocco's game against South Africa in Rabat in what were the opening qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations 2023, which will be held in Ivory Coast and will be moved to June and July, after traditionally being held in January. Although the South Africans went in front with a goal from Foster, En-Nesyri equalised with a header from within the six-yard box six minutes after the second half got back underway. El Kaabi, with only three minutes from the end, sealed the Moroccan comeback and ultimately gave them all three points. The Sevilla striker played up until the 91st minute, when he was subbed off for Fajr. The unquestionable Yassine Bono played the full match, whereas Munir El-Haddadi wasn't called up. Morocco bring this international break to a close on Monday against Liberia in Casablanca.
This Friday sees Koundé's France and Delaney's Denmark play their penultimate game of this UEFA Nations League campaign. France will travel to Vienna to face Austria and Denmark return to Copenhagen to maintain their place at the top against Croatia. Both games get underway at 20:00.
