We have been drawn to face Velarde CF in the First Round of this season's Copa del Rey.
The Cantabrian side play in the Regional Preferente Cantabria, the sixth-tier of Spanish football and the highest regional division in Cantabria, and are currently second in the table. They reached this round of the Copa del Rey after defeating Turégano CF 1-0 in the Preliminary Round.
They were founded in 1967 and have spent twenty seasons in the Third Division (when it was the fourth tier). They won their group in the 2002-03 season. They have not played in the division since the 2017-18 campaign.
They are from the municipality of Camargo, the same municipality as Escobedo, who we beat 5-0 in the Copa del Rey three seasons ago. This time round, Velarde are from the locality of Muriedas and owe their name to Pedro Velarde, a miltary figure in the War of Independence who hails from Muriedas.
The team play at the Municipal La Maruca, which normally has a capacity of 2000.
The fixture will take place in Cantabria on the weekend of 12th/13th November, our last competitive match before the FIFA World Cup.
