Sevilla FC will participate in the pre-season LaLiga Summer Tour, a platform for LaLiga to hold fixtures during the Summer. The club from Nervión will travel to North America to play two friendly matches, one in Mexico and the other in The United States. This will give the chance for fans in North America to see the excitement of LaLiga up close.
Sevilla FC will face Real Betis in the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, Mexico on August 2nd. This particular fixture of the Gran Derbi will mark the first time two LaLiga clubs have faced each other in a friendly in Mexico. Oracle Park of San Francisco, California, will hold our second and final friendly game of the tour as we face Atlético Madrid. Real Sociedad will also be on the tour, and will face Atlético and Betis respectively.
LaLiga Summer Tour forms a part of the strategy of LaLiga North America to increase the number of people who follow the league, and in The United States and Mexico, this includes attracting young people and people from diverse cultures. In partnership with Relevant Sports, the leader in media and football events in North America, LaLiga Summer Tour will be the biggest round of fixtures that LaLiga has organised outside of Spain. Relevant Sports will organise and administrate the tour.
"LaLiga Summer Tour is a great opportunity to attract new fans in North America through displaying the history and passion of LaLiga", Óscar Mayo said, who is the Executive Director General for LaLiga. "LaLiga finds itself in a process of rapid transformation as more clubs and players attract greater attention from fans around the world. There is a genuine passion for football that is growing in Mexico and The United States, and we hope to make the most of this by hosting the tour there."
