This was a huge step forward for the reserve side, who are desperate to avoid relegation. Sevilla Atlético secured their fourth victory in a row against Juventud Torremolinos at El Pozuelo where José María del Nido Carrasco, Vice-President of Sevilla FC, was present to cheer on the side. Away in Malaga, featuring a first half where we could have made victory inevitable, Johansson and Carlos Álvarez both scored and secured a victory which means that Sevilla Atlético's future is in their own hands ahead of the final match of the season, against Mancha Real at the Estadio Jesús Navas.
Our boys initially struggled with the home side making a strong start to the game. Juventud Torremolinos had two early chances as they looked to keep alive their chances of avoiding relegation until the final day, but the reserve side took the lead after a great individual goal from Johansson. The man from Luxembourg, who is in great form as we approach the end of the season, put us in front as he nicked possession from the goalkeeper's pass. The goal gave confidence to the side and just two minutes later, Carlos Álvarez would double our lead as he latched onto a rebound after a powerful strike from Isaac.
Johansson and Isaac had the chance to finish the game off in the first half
Despite being in a good position, the home team sought to pull one back immediately, peppering Manu Cuenca's goal. We could have scored a third though with two chances falling to Isaac and Manu Buenos, whose long shots forced the opposition goalkeeper into making some good stops. This match was typified by a strong defensive performance from Antonio Hidalgo's men, who have only conceded four goals in their last ten matches. The boys were strong at the back in front of 150 travelling fans. Johansson had the chance to kill the game off but was not clinical before Isaac, in the final play of the first half, was denied by Manu Cuenca in a one-on-one.
In the second half, Valentino hit the woodwork with his shot after Manu Cuenca stopped Carlos Álvarez's good effort. Through Miguel, the home side looked to strike back with a shot that also hit the bar. Juventud Torremolinos kept on trying until the end. With a impressive effort off his left foot, Machuca forced Alberto Flores into action to keep the clean sheet in tact. Making the most of the home side sending players forward, Isaac couldn't find the back of the net when through on goal. Sevilla Atlético went on to secure their fourth victory in a row and, if they are to claim three points against an already relegated Mancha Real, they will stay up. The match kicks off at 12:00 on Sunday at the Estadio Jesús Navas. Even a point will mean that Antonio Hidalgo's men avoid direct relegation.
