Sevilla FC fell to their first pre-season with a 2-1 loss against FC Hansa Rostock at Ostseestadion.
The German side, in their last friendly before the start of their league season, began strongly and led after 10 minutes through Pröger, who took full advantage after a weak pass by Jesús Navas.
Sevilla grew into the game and had a hatful of chances to equalise. In particular, Rafa Mir drilled agonisingly wide from close range a few minutes later, while Delaney forced Kolke into a good save from his long-range effort.
However, while we were at our most dominant, Hansa doubled their lead. Pröger latched onto a long ball and got the better of Dmitrovic, who had come outside his area to claim the ball, before playing in Bachmann to roll it into the empty net.
Jesús Navas, Gudelj and Acuña made their first appearances in pre-season
Acuña came close to scoring on the stroke of half time with a driven effort that rose too high, but the German outfit nearly made it 3-0 a minute later when Pröger went clean through, but Dmitrovic was able to deny him.
Chances were few and far between in the second half. Delaney again went close when his shot grazed the post, but Rafa Mir went one better and pulled a goal back just after the hour mark after being played clean through by Rakitic. However, in the last half-hour, Sevilla could not find a second and fell to defeat.
Mendilibar made use of academy players in the second half, with Alberto Flores between the sticks after the interval, while there were also minutes for Kike Salas, Juanlu, Pedro Ortiz and Isaac.
The team are back in action tomorrow, with another friendly against German second-tier opposition in the form of 1. FC Magdeburg. Kick-off in Saxony-Anhalt is also at 15:00 CEST.
