Sevilla FC and Eintracht Frankfurt have reached an agreement for the transfer of Djibril Sow who is already in San Francisco to carry out his medical, sign a five-year contract and team up with the team for what remains of the North American tour.

Djibril Sow (Zürich, 6th of February 1997) is a Swiss central midfielder with Senegalese heritage. After coming through the youth ranks at FC Zurich at the age of eleven, he was transferred to Borussia Monchengladbach seven years later, when he was playing for the Under-21s, coinciding with his coming of age. Although Sow made the team sheet for both the Bundesliga and the cup with the first team, his first season was mostly spent with the reserves (15 appearances, 3 goals). In the 2016/17 season, Sow continued with Borussia ll, playing seventeen games and scoring three goals. This time out, Sow made his debut with the first team thanks to André Schubert handing the Swiss some minutes in two cup ties (one of which was a semifinal against Frankfurt) and a Bundesliga debut against Mainz in April of 2017

In 2022, Sow won the UEFA Europa League with Eintracht at the Sánchez-Pizjuán

That summer, at just twenty years old, Sow receives an offer from Young Boys and returns to Switzerland. The central midfielder makes his Champions League debut, playing in a qualifier against Dinamo Kiev and later competing in four group-stage matches. On home soil, he plays 27 league games (one goal, five assists) and five cup games. His debut season left a lasting impression as he secured a league title and embarked on an exhilarating cup journey, though the final result saw FC Zürich emerge victorious. He also made his first appearance in the Champions League group stage, taking his internationally-disputed games tally that season to eight matches. As a result of his impact at Young Boys, after only two seasons at the club, Sow was on his way back to the Bundesliga to join Eintracht Frankfurt

Sow played every game at the Qatar World cup and has 38 international caps

Furthermore, it didn't take too long before Sow became a fan favourite, playing almost every game in his first year. Of the 34 Bundesliga games, the Swiss international played 29, scoring once and assisting three times with an additional two appearances in the cup. On the European stage, Sow has played nine UEFA Champions League games, reaching as far as the last sixteen. In the 2020/21 season, after the pandemic, Sow makes 28 league appearances and one in the cup. A year later, and arguably his most successful season to date, the 2021/22 season saw Sow crowned a European champion after beating Rangers in UEFA Europa League final at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Sow only missed three games in the league that year (two goals, three assists) whereas in the cup he competed just once. In the Europa League, Sow was a starter on 12 occasions, including the final, and only missed out on the historic quarter-final second leg at the Camp Nou. Last season, Sow went one better in the league making 32 appearances (four goals). In the cup, he played six times, including the final where Frankfurt would eventually lose to RB Leipzig. But if his importance at Eintracht is in any way clear, it is with his European participation. Sow played the full ninety of all Eintracht's Champions League games last year, falling to Napoli in the last sixteen. Not only that, he also played in the loss in the European Super cup final against Real Madrid.

In regard to international duty, Sow has played at all levels for his country from the under 16s to the first team. He played in an under 17s European Championship and competed in the under 19s and under 21s qualifiers. Although his first call-up would come 15 months later, his debut came in September of 2018 in a UEFA Nations League game against Iceland in Sankt Galle. Since then, Sow has racked up 38 caps. At EURO 2020, Sow got some minutes against Italy in the group stage and Spain in the quarters whereas at the Qatar World Cup, he played each of the four Swiss group-stage games, up until their elimination by Portugal.
