Sevilla FC, in light of the events involving the president of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales, during the celebration of the Women's World Cup final, and his response this Friday at the RFEF Assembly, wants to express that:
-It condemns and rejects the actions of the president of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales, towards the player of the national team Jennifer Hermoso during the Women's World Cup final, as well as his explanations and reactions at the RFEF Assembly.
-Sevilla FC supports any measures that Jennifer Hermoso deems appropriate to take following these incidents.
-Sevilla FC rejects and condemns the obscene gestures made by President Luis Rubiales in the VIP box after the national women's team's triumphant World Cup title victory.
-Sevilla FC does not feel represented by the highest authority figure in Spanish football and, in fact, actively opposes such behaviors within the football world. Individuals in positions of power should promote respect and equality, values that Sevilla holds at its core.
-Based on the aforementioned points, the president of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales, should resign from his position as the highest representative of Spanish football.
-Sevilla FC encourages reflection to prevent the recurrence of such actions that tarnish the image of our football, an entity that should strive for and fight for equality. It calls for necessary measures to be taken within the RFEF, an organization that should exemplify respect, unity, and equality not only in football and sports, but throughout society.
-Sevilla FC has previously expressed its disagreement with the management and attitudes of Luis Rubiales, and in fact, its president, José Castro, resigned from the RFEF board of directors in 2022.
-Sevilla FC does not want this incident to in any way overshadow the success represented by the women's national team's World Cup victory, to which it extends its congratulations.
