Representatives from Los Angeles FC, led by Chief Brand Officer, Rich Orosco, were warmly welcomed to Sevilla FC last week and treated to an all-access tour of the club's facilities. The California-based team, who were founded in 2014, are the reigning champions of the MLS (Major League Soccer) and were in Seville to attend the World Football Summit. As part of their trip, we also invited them to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán for our opening match of this season's UEFA Champions League against RC Lens, as well as a visit to the training ground.
Visits like this by LAFC are common practice at Sevilla FC as many international sides want an 'in situ' understanding of how the club is run, its organisation, method and the facilities it has at its disposal. On this occasion, the American outfit also had the privilege of experiencing a live game at the the Sevilla stadium, something which certainly left an impression: "It was exciting to visit the city and see the culture and fanbase in person. Witnessing a Champions League game is something we will remember forever. The atmosphere created by the supporters was incredible and we enjoyed a first-hand view of the rich history of such a huge club. In Los Angeles we are trying to go about things in a similar way, aiming to represent our own fans and become the heartbeat of our city. At LAFC we aspire to have a relationship with our fanbase akin to that of Sevilla FC. We respect them greatly and it's been an honour to be here," stated Orosco.
Notable names within the current LAFC squad include ex-Real Sociedad forward, Carlos Vela, and former Juventus captain, Giorgio Chiellini. They compete in the Western Conference and will look to defend last season's title, which was clinched when they beat Philadelphia Union on penalties in the MLS Cup Final.
