José Luis Mendilibar, who left his role as first-team coach on Sunday, has expressed his gratitude to our supporters in the following open letter:
Dear sevillistas,
My time with you has been short but very eventful. I didn't want to leave without saying thank young, firstly, to the directors who in March made the decision to give me the opportunity to lead a club as great as Sevilla FC.
To all the employees at the club who help out at the training ground day to day and made things easier for me.
To the staff, thank you for your hard work and for always being ready to help me however you possibly could.
To the players, thank you for your incredible effort and the work you put in as this has been the reason we have been able to achieve great things together in my time here.
And above all, to the Sevilla fans, who from my first day to my last have shown me incredible love and support, without your passionate backing we would not have won what we have.
I say goodbye for now to friends at the club and in the city of Seville which I will always consider as my home. I also depart with a sense of pride, after our special night in Budapest which allowed me to write my own small part of the history of this great club.
All I have left to say is that I wish Sevilla FC nothing but the best for the future, the club will always be in my heart.
Aúpa, Sevilla!"
José Luis Mendilibar.
