This week, our president José Castro attended the National Sports Journalism Day, an event that serves to honour the Spanish players who beat Malta 12-1 40 years ago and qualified for the 1984 European Championships. José Ángel de la Casa, the legendary TVE journalist who covered the match's commentary, was also celebrated. José Castro and Ramón Alarcón, the Real Betis representative, gifted him a commemorative plaque from LaLiga. The event was held at the Hotel Silken Al-Andalus Palace.
It was an opportunity to speak with some of the players from the incredible 12-1 win, and many other well-known faces in the sports journalism world were present. For example, Alfredo Relaño, José Ramón de la Morena, Juanma Castaño, Óscar Campillo, Joan Vehils, Santi Nolla, Susana Guasch, Mónica Marchante, Jesús Gallego, Jesús Álvarez, Edu García, Carlos Carpio, Julián Redondo, president of the Spanish Sports Press Association (AEPD), and El Mundo assistant manager Esteban Urreiztieta.
