QUIQUE SÁNCHEZ FLORES ANNOUNCED AS NEW HEAD COACH

We have reached an agreement for Quique Sánchez Flores to become our new head coach, signing until 2025. Enrique Sánchez Flores (Madrid, 02/02/1965) joins following the dismissal of Diego Alonso last Saturday 

Sánchez Flores began his coaching career in 2009, leading the youth team of Real Madrid, a club where he had previously been a player before retiring at Real Zaragoza. He also played for Valencia CF and won 15 international caps. His first coaching roles were at Getafe, Valencia, and Benfica. He achieved his first title with the Portuguese club by winning the League Cup in 2009. During his subsequent two-season tenure at Atlético de Madrid he won an UEFA Europa League and a UEFA Super Cup. In the same year, 2010, he also reached a Copa del Rey final, losing to Sevilla. 

He then moved to the United Arab Emirates to coach Al-Ahli and then Al-Ain for two seasons. 
At Al-Ahli he won a League Cup and a UAE President's Cup, and with the second, he also won a UAE President's Cup. In the following season - 2014/15 - Quique returned to Getafe for a brief period and then moved to Watford for a season before returning to RCD Espanyol In 2019/20 he managed Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua, and then Watford.  His most recent experience was back in Spain at Getafe whom he managed between 2021 and 2023, overseeing 66 games.

He will oversee his first training session this evening before facing his first game against Granada at Nuevo Los Cármenes.
