MOROCCO KNOCKED OUT OF AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS BY SOUTH AFRICA

Morocco, one of the favourites for this year's Africa Cup of Nations, have been knocked out by South Africa in the Round of 16. The Atlas Lions started the campaign strongly and finished top of their group, but a 2-0 defeat sees them exit earlier than desired. 

1-0 down with five minutes to go, Morocco were awarded a penalty, but Hakimi failed to convert, crashing his effort into the crossbar. Makgopa had put South Africa ahead in the 57th minute before Mokoena doubled the lead late into injury time after Amrabat was shown a red card. South Africa will face Cape Verde in Saturday's quarter-finals. Youssef En-Nesyri played the full 90 minutes and will now return to us and is likely to be available for selection ahead of Monday's trip to face Rayo Vallecano.
