The return of Nemanja Gudelj to training on Thursday was a hugely welcome sight. Gudelj, injured in the first game of 2024 against Athletic Club, underwent surgery on his left knee in Madrid and was initially given an expected recovery period of between two and three months. However, he has recovered more quickly than expected, allowing him to join parts of team training, where he recieved a warm welcome from the rest of the group.
The return of Gudelj comes as we continue preparations for Sunday's visit to league leaders Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu. We still have two more training sessions ahead of the trip to the capital and, after Friday morning's training session, head coach Quique Sánchez Flores will speak to the media at the Estadio Jesús Navas.
