Our head coach, Quique Sánchez Flores, spoke at Friday's press conference ahead of the visit to Real Madrid. He started by saying "we're expecting a tough game, we've definitely been improving but we need to show that in this match. Real Madrid are the best team in the league at the moment. They have a strong home record, but we will go there with our own idea of how the game will be played and we will try to get a positive result."
He continued, stating "they are a big team that is used to winning. They've got great players all over the pitch that will push any team to its limits. They are a hard team to break down, but we will try to put some pressure on them, make them feel uncomfortable. Our aim is to be in the game for as long as possible."
"Morale is high and we want to continue things in that vein"
Quique went on to highlight that "we're still far away from the level of the best Sevilla teams of the past. The positive is that, in the space of a few weeks, we've spent plenty of time as a group and begun to chip away at the advantage that teams have when they've worked together for several years. We're now seeing the type of performances we expect from the calibre of players we have here. Levelling up isn't an easy process, but right now morale is high and we want to continue things in that vein."
"More players are coming back from injury, which gives us more cause for optimism as they're integrated over the next few weeks. There's been a big change in our approach and our intensity in training, and unfortunately this sometimes leads to players picking up issues," he said when asked about the current injury list.
"We have to deliver in the key moments, in both attack and defence"
"We will be as brave as they allow us to be, because we have to keep in mind who we are playing against. We need a top performance all-round. If we manage that, I think we will be in with a chance."
