Del Nido Carrasco welcomed the Tunisian ambassador Omrani at the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios.

The Tunisian Government and Sevilla Fútbol Club wanted to take advantage of Hannibal Mejbri's January arrival to strengthen ties.  During the visit, the ambassador was granted behind the scenes access to training facilities and, together with the president, established fresh lines of future communication between the country and Sevilla FC as the club continues to prioritise its process of internationalisation. "I thank the president for such a warm welcome. We discussed avenues for collaboration between Sevilla and Tunisia, a country with a rich football history. Football is the most important sport in Tunisia," said Fatma Omrani.

"Hannibal is loved in Tunisia. He plays for the national team and they have been following him ever since he started playing football. When we found out he was coming to Sevilla there was great enthusiasm around the move. It's a new experience for him in a country that Tunisians follow a lot. There are fans of Barcelona, Real Madrid and now also Sevilla FC," the ambassador explained.

Omrani also had the opportunity to watch a first-team training session. After the session, she spoke with Hannibal about his adaptation and integration to life in Spain. “I was able to come and see how he’s getting on and whether he has adapted well to life in Spain, which is of course very different to Manchester! He seems to be doing well, the culture is not too dissimilar to that of Tunisia nor France. He likes the weather; he’s enjoying living in the city and has adapted well to the team. He feels welcome and appreciated,” she revealed.

Furthermore, the Tunisian ambassador hopes that Hannibal’s spell at the club helps create plenty of fans in her country and perhaps could inspire some supporters to visit Tunisia. “Tunisians tend to enjoy visiting Sevilla and hopefully Hannibal will make them follow the club as well. With this visit I wanted to mark this collaboration. I would like to tell the people of Sevilla, the people of Andalucía and the people of Spain, Tunisia truly is a lovely country and it is not far away! We have a similar culture, wonderful beaches and a fascinating history that would them feel welcome and at home.”
