Sevilla FC will face Al-Ittihad in one of the most emotive games of the year in the 13th edition of the Antonio Puerta trophy.
The game against the Saudi Arabian team will be the first match back at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Al-Ittihad will become the first team from Asia and the fifth foreign team to play in the tournament after Boca Juniors. Roma, Schalke 04 and Independiente del Valle.
The game will take place on Friday, 26 July at 22:00 CEST. The game will consist of two 45 minute halves, and in the case of a draw will be decided by a penalty shootout.
Xavier García Pimienta squad will be looking for the club’s eleventh win overall, with Boca Juniors in 2010 and Granada in 2016 the other two sides to have won the Antonio Puerta trophy.
Al Ittihad is the oldest club in Saudi Arabia. Taking part of the Antonio Puerta Trophy, they want to convey that they consider it a great milestone in their rich legacy to compete in this tournament for the first time, something that they classify as a recognition of their history and their football achievements and highlights the mutual respect that they share with Sevilla FC in order to promote sporting excellence and international cooperation in football.
