"We have to be creative to find the best player, but that can't be an excuse for not finding them," said Orta.

Sporting Director, Víctor Orta, answered the media's questions at the presentation of Chidera Ejuke, our first signing for the 24/25 campaign. Orta began by emphasising that "we had known Ejuke since he arrived in Europe and we were surprised by his loan move in November. When we found out that he would be available to sign for free, we monitored him closely for a prolonged period, during which we were convinced by his personality and all the information we needed. We also spoke to the coach, who places a lot of importance on wingers - speed, etc; and these are characteristics that Chidera has. He presses well out of possession, and we had to move quickly because he was free. We are really happy."

"At this very early point in the season, I feel quite optimistic. We already have a player in the building, which is unusual. On the subject of departures, we contacted every player, towards the end of the campaign, to give them time to assess all their options. We are in talks with many of them to reach agreements and we are optimistic about all of this because it's now been several weeks since we made the first round of calls. We have to respect the contracts, but they know that they have to look for better options to develop professionally," he continued.

Ejuke is the ideal player for a coach, he tackles, he has pace, he dribbles, he gets into the box..

Otra went on to say that "we are clear about the profile of the player we are looking for; hard-working, aggressive, good ball control, tactical, fast... in every area on the pitch. On an economic level, we are trying to optimise resources and improve performance. We have to look for free players, players on loan, players with short contracts... The rules in LaLiga are clear regarding the salary limit. We have to be creative to find the best player with those resources, but that doesn't mean we can make excuses for not finding them."

"Ejuke is perfect for Sevilla because of all his qualities. This year he has made a huge leap forward defensively. We have spoken to people who know him personally and I think he fits the coach's system perfectly. He tackles, he has pace, he dribbles, he gets into the box...", he said of the new signing.

"I want a team with an identity, with a strong identity, who can push forward and dominate games."

On his discussions with García Pimienta regarding the summer transfer window, he insisted that he is "in contact with the coach on a daily basis. He's very keen, looking at a lot of options on the market and we know clearly what he wants and what he likes. I'm very excited about what's to come. He also knows that we are going to put the youth team at his disposal, so that he can count on them and we hope that some of those who feature in pre-season will form part of the first team."

To finish, Orta said that "I think we're building something special, starting in the dugout with a coach who comes with a lot of desire, preparation and enthusiasm. Then, on the pitch, we will play with an identity, with speed, that is recognised, that wins games and puts us on the front foot so that we dominate the game. This vision excited me, and that's why we want that model of player like Ejuke. We're going to need high-quality players who will please the fans, I'm aware of that, but I'm convinced that we're going to find them, that they'll perform at highest level, and that the fans will be happy."
