MONTIEL SCORES IN PENALTY SHOOTOUT AS ARGENTINA BEAT ECUADOR

Gonzalo Montiel came off the bench to help Argentina reach the semi-finals of the Copa América after beating Ecuador 4-2 penalties after a 1-1 draw. The defender, who was loaned out last season, came on in the final minute after Lisandro Martínez's first-half strike had been cancelled out by Kevin Rodríguez in stoppage time. 

Montiel then stepped up to take the third penalty, making no mistake as Lionel Scaloni's side booked themselves a semi-final place on Wednesday against the winner of Venezuela v Canada. Marcos Acuña was an unused substitute.
