Víctor Orta spoke at Álvaro Fernández's unveiling on Tuesday afternoon. Our sporting director began by speaking on the decision to sign to goalkeeper: "We have a goalkeeping scouting department and we looked at the goalkeepers who could be available. I nearly signed him for Leeds. I knew about his career and with the national team. He was also an Olympic medallist. I was impressed by his performance last season at a very difficult time for Huesca. He had the most consistent year of his career. He was a free agent and the highest-value Spanish goalkeeper on the market. We tried to convince him through the project and he had the patience to wait for us. I'm grateful for that, it shows once again that this club has a lot of pull that makes players want to come here"
Questioned about the registration of players and a possible amnesty for Saúl after winning the European Championship, our sporting director assured that the club is working on both aspects: "We are busy trying to get as many players registered as possible. We are going to do everything we can to get everyone registered by Friday. All the teams are having problems. We have 20 players registered, which is not bad at this stage. The issue of the amnesty is the Federation and they were decisions taken by previous presidents of the RFEF. Last time there was a club that complained because they understood that it was detrimental to those teams that didn't have sanctioned players. The only player sanctioned this time is Saúl. We have tried through our president to apply it but a general immobility makes me not very optimistic about an amnesty."

On the other hand, Víctor assured that the club has not received any offer for Badé that would be beneficial for all parties: "No offer has arrived that satisfies either Badé's interest, or Sevilla's, or his market value. It would be too speculative to talk about the future". He also analysed the defense, assuring that in the event of departures, reinforcements would arrive: "We have five central defenders and we have to be honest with the players we have. If there is a departure in the centre of defence, it will be reinforced".
Gudelj was another of the names Víctor Orta was questioned about and he assure that he had not received any official offer: "Nobody from Al-Shabab has contacted Sevilla FC officially about any player".
Again, when asked about the team's licences for the current season, the sporting director assured that in order for reinforcements to arrive, there have to be sales: "Regarding the number of licences, there are 25, although some players, like last year, may have a licence from the reserve team and be with the first team. In order to bring in new players, there have to be departures". To close, he said that the first objective is "to win the first game against Las Palmas", and that Agoumé will have a "first team licence".
