It was back-to-back wins in Nervión, not without new agony, but in the end late joy. Nothing of note happened until almost half-time, when Peque scored to make it 1-0. At the restart, Saúl had to go off injured and Valladolid equalised. However, the team dug deep and with five minutes to go, the victory was secured with a great goal by Ejuke.
The first half at the Sánchez-Pizjuán was a dominant affair. Peque, after going close on a number of occasions fired home from a Lukebakio cross on the left to give us the lead. In total, we had 12 shots in the first 45 minutes and it was a deserved goal as the teams went into the break.
Saúl was injured early in the second half and Valladolid equalised two minutes later.
The second half, on the other hand, started in the worst possible way, totally different to how the first half ended. In the 55th minute, Saúl had to leave the pitch injured, on a stretcher, and two minutes later Kike Pérez equalised for the away side. Lukebakio was a threat on the wing and he was joined by substitute Ejuke who had a great chance on the counter that Hein did well to save.
But the script was not yet finished as we ground out a vital win. It was nearly Peque who claimed a winner but was denied a point-blank range by Hein. However, we wouldn't be denied and Ejuke sent the ground wild as he broke past his marker and delivered a finish into the bottom corner to seal a dramatic late three points.
