GARCÍA PIMIENTA: "WE NEVER GAVE UP AND FULLY DESERVED TO TAKE A POINT HOME WITH US"

Our Head Coach, Xavier García Pimienta, spoke to the club's media following the rescued point at the San Mamés. Discussing the events of the match, he started, "I think we came out strongly from the very first whistle. We knew what the challenge would be; the San Mamés is a difficult place to come and get a point. We went behind but we never let them take the game away from us. We played well overall and deservedly got an equaliser late on." Asked about the weaker parts of the game, our Head Coach responded, "We have to be better defensively. They were able to take the lead from a cross that we didn't clear properly. But we're getting closer to where we want to be, we've never given any excuses and I think we were full value for the point today. Finding an equaliser at the very end of the game shows the strength in character that we have as a team."

Looking ahead to next weekend's El Gran Derbi, García Pimienta assured, "We have all week to prepare for it properly. I've been told that it's a truly special affair, even more so at home with the fans doing the best to help the team. We have to be level-headed, we will be fully prepared and ready to play our best football. We want there to be a party at the Sánchez-Pizjuán."
