In his second game for Spain Under-21s, Peque scored his first goal in their 6-0 win against Malta. Santi Denia's side continued their 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign in Algeciras.
Peque provided the assist for Samu Omorodion's opener before Carmona did likewise for Omorodion and Spain's second. Peque then got his second assist for Omorodion's hattrick before half time in a dominant display. He then went one better and got himself on the score sheet with his first-ever goal for Spain Under-21s eleven minutes into the second half.
José Ángel Carmona played the full 90 minutes at the Estadio Nuevo Mirador while Juanlu did not feature. With the three points, Spain led Group B with nine wins and one draw to give them 28 points, nine ahead of Belgium in second place.
