Tanguy Nianzou spoke at the midweek press conference. The central defender began by talking about his return to team training after injury: “I'm well prepared. I've been training since the start of the international break. I can say that I'm ready for our next matches." He also assessed the team's style of play at the beginning of the season: “We have to get used to it. We have training sessions to try to do what the coach wants and then we have to try to do that in matches."
He also spoke about the good form he is in on the pitch: "At this moment I am working hard in training. My teammates help me to stay focused at all times, in matches and in training. I have begun to develop more as a player in the last few years." He also praised the figure of his teammate and captain Jesús Navas: “Navas is a legend of the club, of the city and of Spain. The derby was very important for the team and for Jesús”. Questioned about Vinicius' comments on racism in the world of football, he assured that "I have never experienced it. I'm just here to help, nothing more."
"It's not only the confidence of the coach but also an inner self-confidence"
Nianzou emphasised the great personal confidence he has at this point in his career, also highlighting that of the coach: "I don't only have the coach's confidence, it's also my own inner self-confidence. Without confidence, you can't get things done. I am very happy, confident and working hard." Regarding the team's next objective, he focused on getting three points in the upcoming matches: “We have to go game by game, get the three points in the next matches and see what happens."
“Playing for the national team is a reward. When you do things well with your club you get the call, that's why there are players with their national teams. In training, we had academy players come in and we trained well," he said on the work over the international break. He also spoke about compatriot Loïc Badé: “Badé feels good, he can make it to the Rayo game this Sunday. He is a good teammate, a good friend, I like playing with him."
"Every game is important, we have a game on Sunday and we are focusing on Sunday"
Looking ahead to Sunday, Nianzou said the team is prepared: “Every game is important, we have a game on Sunday and we are focusing on Sunday. After that, there will be other matches in which we must also be focused”. Regarding Agoumé, the Frenchman wanted to highlight the confidence of his teammates in him after he captained France Under-21s over the international break. "The captain's armband isn't just given to anybody. He is a young and important player with the national team and with Sevilla. The team has forgotten the mistake. Lucien will come back with a great desire to do well."
To finish Nianzou spoke about the differences between the French and Spanish league: "I think all leagues are different in all countries. In France, it is also very difficult to win. The opponent doesn't give anything away. There are differences, but both leagues are difficult.” Lastly, he is sure that Isaac and Iheanacho will soon be scoring goals this season: "We know it's a difficult moment for them, but we are here to help them and give them confidence. We know that one day, hopefully in the next game, the goal will come. From that moment on, many will come too."
