Jesús Navas could not hide his emotion while speaking to the media following his final ever game at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. He started, "It's a tricky situation. I have so many different emotions. But I hope that I've left a legacy within the dressing room. The fans deserve everything. As a team, we always step up to the challenge. Like today with the news of the suspensions. But we all stepped up and fought together."

Looking back at his career, he was very satisfied. "I have achieved many things, won many titles and made many people happy - the whole of Spain too with the national team. I never gave up and I've never changed my values. That is what has got me to where I am today. I want everyone who puts on this shirt to show the same fight for the badge. I am pleased with what I've achieved."

"My main objective was to help lead the squad over the past few months. Some times I'd play without knowing whether I'd be able to walk the next day. I want the fans to know how special they are to me. They are what makes every training session and every match worth it. I'm not sure what the future holds, but what's important to me is showing love to everyone and making others happy. I hope to continue in this way," he continued.

He then discussed the importance of the academy, stating, "They [the academy players] came out and played for the badge. They gave everything for me, for the fans and for themselves. The academy is so important to this club." Finally, he was asked about his favourite memory at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, to which he responded, "There's one goal that changed the course of history - that goal by Puerta that opened the door to everything that followed. That was a crucial moment in the history of this club and we are all so grateful to him for it."
