AGREEMENT REACHED WITH RIVER PLATE FOR THE TRANSFER OF GONZALO MONTIEL

An agreement has been reached with CA River Plate for the transfer of the left-back Gonzalo Montiel. The Argentine, who arrived in Nervión in the summer of 2021, played 81 official games for the club - 52 in LALIGA EA SPORTS, 11 in the Copa del Rey, 9 in the UEFA Europa League, 8 in the UEFA Champions League and one in the European Super Cup. He will always be remembered as the hero of Budapest, scoring the winning penalty in the shootout against Roma to give us our seventh Europa League. In total, he scored three goals, the last coming against UE Olot in the Copa del Rey in December. 

He arrived to the club after winning the Copa América, a title which he won for the second time in 2024. He also won the 2022 World Cup, scoring the winning penalty in the shoot-out against France. During his time with the club he was also loaned to Nottingham Forrest in the Premier League, for who he played 19 games.
