In the past couple of hours, the club has been informed of the passing away of Juan Silverio de la Chica Viso, aged 90. He has occupied a number of different positions at the club ever since the late 1970s, under Eugenio Montes Cabeza's presidency. During the transition period between Montes and Gabriel Rojas, he was acting President for a few weeks in 1984. He was also on the Board of Directors during the eras of Rafael Carrión, Roberto Alés and José María del Nido Benavente. In fact, he was the Vice President to del Nido Benavente.
Juan SIlverio, who played for the youth team, was in charge of the proceedings leading up to the 1982 FIFA World Cup, preparing the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán as a host venue. He left the Board of Directors in 2007 and has since been recognised with club awards. He kept ties with the club through his role with the Sevilla FC Foundation.
Everyone at Sevilla FC would like to express our deepest condolences to Juan Silverio de la Chica's family and friends. Rest in peace.
