It was a solid performance from Stanis Idumbo in the first of two friendlies that Belgium Under-21s will play during their training camp in the Valencian town of Oliva. This Thursday, the friendly between the Belgian side and Sweden took place there, featuring two teams that did not qualify for next summer’s Under-21 European Championship in Slovakia.
Although the winger did not start the match, he made an electric impact when he came on at the hour mark, making his debut at Under-21 level. Just two minutes later, with a strike from outside the box, Idumbo equalised after Sweden had taken the lead through a penalty scored by Omorowa. That goal marked the start of Belgium’s comeback, which was completed when Pauwels scored the winner five minutes from the end. Before returning home, the forward will play another friendly at the same venue on Sunday at 13:00 CET, against Andorra.
