1-1: DERBY DRAW SECURES LIGA F SURVIVAL

A 1-1 draw was more than good enough for Sevilla FC Women. Sharing a point with Real Betis means that their Liga F status is safe for another year. After a poor start, David Losada's side grew into the game and could have taken all three points. 

Rosa Márquez scored early on to give the hosts the lead. Sevilla FC Women looked to respond instantly. Gemma saw her effort ruled out while Fatou Kanteh and Padilla Bidas both came close. At half time, Losada was forced into a substitution as Debora García came off injured; Alba López came on in her place. 

After the break, Sevilla FC Women looked for a way back into the game, starting strongly. Padilla Bidas had a golden opportunity when she was one-on-one against Noelia Gil, but the goalkeeper managed to save with her feet. But her persistence finally paid off as she brought the sides level in the 52nd minute. 

Encouraged by the goal, Losada's side searched for a second and almost found it through Lucía Corrales' effort with 15 minutes left on the clock. But the game ended level and a share of the points meant that Sevilla FC Women's place in next year's Liga F is confirmed. Next up is a home match against Levante UD on Saturday. Kick-off at the Estadio Jesús Navas will be 16:00 CEST.
