Samir Nasri spoke in the mixed zone following the 2-1 win against Celta Vigo on Thursday night, and he discussed the importance of getting the three points: “Really happy obviously because we knew about the result last night of Atlétco Madrid, so it was really important for us to win to keep the gap of 8 points with Villarreal.”
The Frenchman added that it allows the side “to have hope to finish third in the league, so it was really important that we did it tonight. It was difficult but we did it.”
Asked about returning from the injury which has kept him out for most of the month, he indicated that he “was really happy to get back playing because I was out for quite a while and it was important for me to get back to get my minutes… It was the best thing to be decisive at that moment for the team, for the confidence as well because when you’ve been out for almost a month it’s always good to go back with a bang” so “an assist was really important for that tonight.”
The midfielder even struck the woodwork shortly after coming on, and he joked: “I think I’m cursed in the stadium!” explaining that “I’ve scored three goals and those three goals have been away… I tried my best and it hit the bar. Why not the next game on Monday.”
