VILLARREAL'S DRAW GUARANTEES FOURTH PLACE FINISH FOR SEVILLA FC

Despite the defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu, Sevilla FC have achieved the season's objective with one match still to play. Villarreal CF needed to beat RC Deportivo at home to try to take advantage of a slip-up from Sevilla and keep alive their chance of finishing fourth, but they only managed a draw against the Galicians. That means that Jorge Sampaoli's side have secured their spot in the final round of Champions League qualification phase in August. The draw for that round will be held on 4th August. Although there was a chance to finish third, Atlético Madrid's draw at the Villamarín means they now have third place secured.
