The Sevilla FC team arrived in Seville after travelling from London with a four hour delay, and finally touched down at San Pablo at 6.45. A number of circumstances lead to this being the case.
The flight left Luton Airport 45 minutes late but with enough leeway to land before three in the morning, the cut-off time in Seville, where the E.T.A was 2:45am. However, the plane encountered a lot of headwind during the flight, slowing the journey down, and so at five minutes to three, with the landing time now predicted at two minutes past, the captain was told by the control tower that the airport would be closed. The reason: the airport firefighting services refuse to offer their services after three.
