BERIZZO: "WE HAD TO CHANGE OUR DYNAMIC"

The manager highlighted the seriousness with which the team approached the match against Cartagena and the confidence that a clear win produces

Following three consecutive defeats, Sevilla FC finally triumphed. Although against a team of inferior technical skill, a victory is always encouraging and above all the team has done a great job. Eduardo Berizzo appeared in the Cartagonova Stadium "satisfied with having understood the match as they should have done - with seriousness and respect. We were consistent with our play right up until the final whistle, we scored three, but there were opportunities for more. Each player made the most of their time on the pitch. We played seriously with variation in our attack...I am extremely pleased with the squad's performance".

The manager recognised "we needed to change our dynamic and that's what we did - confidence has soared and the team have taken a step in the right direction. We came off a defeat but we modified our dynamic and now, filled with confidence, we will take on the La Liga clash this Saturday". 

The Argentinian continued: "We will return to La Liga looking to secure another victory which will allow us to climb higher in the table. The team needs to wipe the slate clean of any previous setbacks and face the coming games with optimism, keeping in mind that we are quality footballers that play at a high standard- when they put their minds to it and let their feet do the talking they will most certainly win". 

Questioned about Geis, he explained that "he's a trustworthy and serious player, he's got a good pass and he has taken advantage of this opportunity. He is a safe option for us". That being said, he wanted to shine a light on the work of the entire team: "Ganso, Correa, Ben Yedder, Muriel came on strong, Lasso, Sarabia..." Additionally, he acknowledged that he'd tried Muriel out on the wing: "Luis has played there several times, it's a position in which he can fulfil his potential whilst he can also serve as an alternative option for the team".
