VICTORY AFTER NINE YEARS ON ATLÉTICO SOIL AND THE FIRST SPANISH TEAM TO WIN IN THE WANDA

Sevilla FC managed a huge win this Wednesday night in the Wanda Metropolitano, putting a welcome halt of a poor run of results from December 2017. Though the tie with Diego Simeone's side is still wide open, none will be able to deny the value of a win in the Wanda against Atlético Madrid.

Sevilla had not won on Colchonero soil since September 2008, when a Luis Fabiano goal gave the Nervionenses a narrow 0-1 win; but with Joquín Correa's 88th minute winner completing a 1-2 comeback against all odds, Sevilla FC not only became the first Spanish team in history to win in the Wanda Metropolitano (relpicating almost exactly Chelsea's Champions League group stage win in Madrid) but also the first Spanish side to score two goals in the Rojiblancos' new home (with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid already having tried and failed). They may only be statistics - granted - but they only serve to highlight the magnitude of achievement for Vincenzo Montella's side.
