This Thursday saw Miguel Layún presented as a Sevilla FC player, alongside fellow recent signings, Roque Mesa and Sandro Ramírez. The Mexican player made clear that coming to the club has always been something he's wanted: "I was very eager to come here in Summer it was tough not being able to represent the team. I am curious to get to the know the ins and outs of the club, it is a club with a humane quality which is something particularly important for me".
Asked about interest shown by other clubs, he answered: "I will always be grateful to those clubs who have shown interest in me, that speak highly of me and my footballing career. However, at the end of the day I am where I want to be and I am extremely happy here. The best thing is to not get too caught up in these matters, I am happy here, I wanted to be at Sevilla and I am exactly where I want to be".
Questioned on his profile, he responded "I am aware that I am coming into a team where the players in my preferred position are highly ranked and extremely talented. I play as a right back but I can also play on the left and in other positions. My objective is to offer the team the best that I have".
With regards to this season's objectives, he is aware of the Club's demands: "The aspirations are clear, we can't avoid what this historical club has in mind. The team will continuously fight to place higher in La Liga, we have the Champions League and we're currently fighting for a spot in the final of the Copa del Rey. On a personal level, I want to get to know those already at the club. With the World Cup on the horizon, we are excited for what lies ahead, however, the most important thing is to perform, to learn from my new teammates here, and to play as best as I can".
