CAPARRÓS: “WE WEREN'T FAR OFF PLACING HIGHER”

An ecstatic Joaquín Caparrós spoke to the press following Sevilla FC's final match of the season, which ended in a victory against Deportivo Alavés. "We got the three points for our fans and therefore we finish the season with a sweet taste in our mouths. It's a shame because we weren't far off placing higher in the table, three or four off qualification for the Champions League".

He continued: "I'm happy, I am so pleased with the fans, they are spectacular and I am so grateful. Now we need to work hard and plan for the next season so that Sevilla can carry on making its fans happy".

Speaking about tonight's game, he was disappointed about the several opportunities where the side failed to score "we had a lot of chances, especially in the first-half. It was a tough match and it was important to score early on. But I'm happy with the three points".

"I will be forever grateful, being from Utrera, from Sevilla. When my father brought me to the football I never thought that I would have the chance to coach at such a big Club, at my Club. I am indebted to Sevilla FC", he concluded.
