This Monday the modification of the lower part of the East Stand began. The expansion will see an addition of 1,000 seats - a project that will eventually be extended to the South, North and West stands to increase the capacity of the Sánchez-Pizjuán to 47,000 seats

As in past summers, works on the improvement of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán only intensify as the season ends. This past Monday, in fact, the alteration of the East Stand has started. The project will see an expansion of 1,000 seats. To accommodate the expansion, the exit corridor and passageway between the upper bank and lower tribune will be closed-off, creating four seating blocks of 25 rows each.

In the new lower East Stand, collapsable seats will also be installed to improve mobility. Finally, a new zone for wheelchairs and carers will be created, with boxes featuring monitors that will screen matches live.

This work in the Lower East Stand will later be extended to the North, South and West Stand, so as to increase the capacity of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán to 47,000 spectators.

Moreover, modifications to the East Stand will not be the only changes to take place this summer. The gates of the East and South stands will be expanded. In the East Stand, 11 new gates will be added - 3 with access to the upper stand, 3 with access to the lower stand and 5 with access to the exit. In the South Stand, 8 new gates will be added, identical to those at gates 6 and 8. There will be a new total of 14 gates - 3 with access to the Upper Stand, 4 with access to the Lower Stand, 2 with access to the away section and 5 with access to the exit.

This work in the Lower East Stand will later be extended to the North, South and West Stand, increasing the capacity of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán to 47,000 spectators

In the West Stand, the visiting changing rooms will be modified as well as adjacent spaces (such as UEFA offices and the exit from the tunnel). A new changing room for referees will also be added.

Finally, in the West Stand, at the level of the fourth official, technology for Video Refereeing, better known as VAR, will be prepared. This will involve the installation of several cameras and a monitor desk.
