Although the result did not accompany the achievement against Barcelona, Jesús Navas has set another record in his star-studded career. Although he was a doubt for the game due to an injury picked up last Wednesday against SS Lazio, the wing-back played his 650th game on Saturday, made up of 467 appearances for Sevilla and 183 for Manchester City. A number which very few players can reach and 15 years after his debut in La Liga he is still a vital player for Sevilla, being essential to the team's system in his new wing-back role. He celebrated the achievement with the game's opening goal but he was not able to celebrate it with a win.

Breaking it down into competitions, he has played just more than 50% of his total matches in La Liga with 330 games at the highest level of Spanish football. Jesús Navas never played in the second division as his debut came three years after Sevilla's last promotion. Furthermore, he played in 123 Premier League matches during the four seasons he played in Manchester. The competition with the third highest appearances is the Champions League with Navas playing the enviable figure of 61 matches in the highest level of European football. Curiously, his numbers with both clubs are almost equal, having played 31 matches with City and 30 as a Nervionense.

More than half of his matches have come in La Liga, reaching 330 on Saturday

He has also made many appearances in the Copa del Rey, making 55 appearances and starting three finals. And then there is the Europa League, a competition which has added to his trophy cabinet. Navas has played in two finals and 44 matches in total, with the chance to add to that figure very soon against Slavia Prague. Returning to England, Jesús Navas played 15 matches in the League Cup and 13 in the FA Cup, while at Sevilla he has played in 5 Spanish Supercup matches and two European Supercup games. The 650 games are finished off with one appearance in the Community Shield for City.

As everyone knows, the matches have not been short of success for Navas, as in addition to the World Cup in 2010 and the Euros in 2012, the Sevillista has won nine titles at his two clubs. Two UEFA Europa Leagues, two Copa del Reys, one European Supercup, one Spanish Supercup, one Premier League and two League Cups. All of this with 47 goals scored and 131 assists, his speciality. These stats show the continued importance of the player with the most appearances in Sevilla's history and Navas is showing no signs of slowing up.
