Daniel Carriço accompanied Pablo Machín in the press conference this Wednesday in the run-up to tomorrow's Sevilla-Slavia. The Portuguese will add to his impressive numbers in the Europa League: 'It's a special competition for me but especially for the club. We have made history and we want to keep making more by bringing it home once more. Tomorrow we've got a round of 16 tie against a complicated opponent and we have to give it everything we've got in our stadium.'

After some defensive mishaps in recent weeks, Carriço is clear: 'We know that tomorrow is a knock-out tie and we have to keep a clean sheet at home no matter what. We've spoken about it, we know what we have to do and that we have to be compact in the defence.' On a personal level, he feels ready for the match: 'I'm feeling good and the boss will make his choice tomorrow. What's important is that I'm now ready to help the team. We knew that a bad run could come and the only way to get out of it is by being together. We want the fans to cheer us on from the first minute tomorrow and we will come out strong; we will be solid and put in our best performance.'

It is not a good moment in the season but the Portuguese has a lot of experience at the club: 'We play for Sevilla FC and that is a huge responsibility because you have to go out to win every game. Tomorrow is a huge game in Europe and we have to go out to win it. Even if we aren't in the best run of form, we will get out of it by being 100% with the coach. Football is decided by small details and away from home we aren't creating many chances but if we were just a bit more clinical everything would be different. There have been games we've lost in the last minute and when we're away from home we need to have the same attitude that we do at home so we can go out and win and end this run.'

'We have to go out tomorrow and win at home, that's essential in Europe'

Carriço spoke briefly about defending: 'Regardless of what the system is you have to be ordered in defence. Whether you play with a back three or four you have to be organised to keep things solid. The coach will pick a system tomorrow and we are prepared for whatever it is.' Finally, he spoke about Slavia: 'There are no easy opponents by this stage of the competition. They are top of their league, they are physical and we have to match them in that aspect. I think we are the better side but we have to prove that out on the pitch.'
