Sevilla FC's president, José Castro, presented the club's new Sporting Director this afternoon, Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo 'Monchi', who returns to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán after two years in Rome: 'Monchi is coming back home but he really never left. He comes back with the same post but he is much more than just a Sporting Director: he will have a lot to say regarding the general running of the club,' explained the president.'
JOSÉ CASTRO: 'MONCHI IS MUCH MORE THAN A SPORTING DIRECTOR'
'We presented him with a project for the future, knowing how meticulous he is, and that pleased him and convinced him to be here today. We are delighted with his decision and to have him back at Sevilla FC. He comes with a contract but in reality he is a special person and we would love his stay to be indefinite,' commented José Castro.
'It's time for Monchi to apply everything he has learned outside of Sevilla into Sevilla'
The president also stated the Monchi would have 'a double function as Sporting Director. This means that he will be involved not only in the sporting day-to-day of the club, but also in any other relevant matters. It's time for Monchi to apply everything he has learned outside of Sevilla into Sevilla. He has experience, ability, and the wisdom to make the right decisions for this club.'
'With Monchi we are thinking in the present and the future. The club has very important projects going on in the stadium and the training village and we want Monchi to be involved in them. For us, it's important to hear his opinion on matters outside of the sporting area as well,' José Castro added.
