Sergio Escudero spoke to Sevilla FC Radio this morning, giving his verdict on the appointment of new First Team coach Julen Lopetegui. Escudero has some experience working under the Basque boss, having been called up to the Spain squad under his instruction: "I think Julen is completely ready to be with us. He's a football man, he'll be very involved with the team, with the Club, with everything. He's a coach with very clear ideas. I only know him a bit but from what I've seen working with him he's very hard working, he studies his opponents, looking for ways to hurt them... I think we're going to learn a lot with all the time he'll be here. I'm sure he'll come looking to improve, work hard and to get us as high up the table as possible".

He also evaluated last season's campaign: "It was a difficult season because of all the highs and lows we had. It was a disappointment to get knocked out the Europa League where we fancied our chances but sometimes football gives you those blows. It was also our aim to qualify for the Champions League but it wasn't to be. But being in Europe again is important for the Club. In Europe without needing to qualify, because last season we had to start very early which might have also taken its toll. Being in directly means we can work more in preseason and prepare the team better", said the defender before finishing: "On the positive side, we're going to try and make this year better than the last. That's what we'll work towards".
