The Brazilian has built extensive experience since the 07/08 season, when he made his professional debut at Estrela Amadora. Since, most of Fernando's career has been spent at FC Porto, where he arrived in 08/09 and stayed until 14/15, when joining Manchester City. Over the last two years, after his period in England, the Brazilian midfielder has played for Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Before leaving for England, Fernando played almost 240 matches with Porto, divided between league competition, Portugal's domestic cup and Europe, where the midfielder also has extensive experience at both Champions League and UEFA Europa League level. Fernando faced Sevilla for the first time in his time at Porto, in the quarterfinals of the UEL of the 13/14 campaign.
At Manchester City, the Brazilian made more than one hundred official appearances and was an important player in the first two years after his arrival. Fernando also faced Sevilla FC at this stage of his career, specifically in the 15/16 season, where both teams met in the group stage of the Champions League.
In Istanbul, he has played 58 games, winning two Turkish titles and one domestic Cup in the two seasons he has been at Galatasaray.
