Sevilla FC and Extremadura UD will play a friendly match this summer to pay tribute to José Antonio Reyes, who died this June in a traffic accident. The match will take place on the 10th of August, 21:00 CET in the Francisco de la Hera Stadium - just one day after Julen Lopetegui's team face Granada CF in another preseason clash. Prices will range from 10 euros to 15 and 20 euros in sheltered seats. All proceeds will go to the family of Reyes.
SEVILLA FC AND EXTREMADURA UD TO PLAY TRIBUTE MATCH FOR JOSÉ ANTONIO REYES ON THE 10TH OF AUGUST
José Antonio Reyes is one of the most treasured gems in the history of Sevilla FC and was taken all too early at just 35 years old. Leaving a glowing legacy behind him, he won 22 caps for Spain and a stunning total of 12 senior trophies. In fact, he is the only player in history to have won five UEFA Europa League titles - three coming with Sevilla. The Utrera-born player was registered in the ranks of Extremadura UD at the time of his death, whose entire squad made the trip to the Sánchez-Pizjuán to bid farewell to Reyes in the days following the accident.
It's for the very same reason that the 10th of August will be an emotional and ultimately unforgettable affair - aimed purely at paying a deserved tribute to the man with the eternal smile. The Chairmen of both Clubs, Manuel Franganillo and José Castro, will appear before the media on the 25th of July to officially present the fixture.
