Sevilla FC were successful in their bid to host the final of the competition they consider to be 'theirs' in 2021. UEFA awarded the responsibility of hosting a final to Sevilla FC and in the heart of this football club, there is a sense of achievement. Speaking of which, José Castro, the President, said that: "We have bet on this tournament more than anyone for many years, and we deserve to host a European final in our stadium. We have been given the final due to the eagerness, the work and the determination that we have put in to ensure that we have a top-class stadium that is fit to host these types of games". In addition, he underlined the work of the club: "Without serious investment this would not have been possible. It's a project that has been well structured and fully costed".

Likewise, Monchi spoke about the joint effort between Sevilla FC and the UEL: "It's a competition which Sevilla has given a lot to, and one which has also given a lot to Sevilla. A final played here is something that was destined to happen, like a happy ending to a children's story. What we have done in the Europa League is a dream. I still think that there are people who don't believe what we have done. If you told us that this would happen 15 years ago, nobody would have believed you. There are three clear factors: the stadium, the city and the club".

Involved in this project since the beginning, the General Advisor Jesús Arroyo spoke about how the process went: "It's a long process. We had already put our name forward for 2019, but we didn't win that and that acted as a learning curve for us - we knew on what we had to improve moving forward. We are experts in organising finals, just not in our own stadium; but all of this helped us in the long run. I wish to thank all of the public and private institutions, especially the Council of Sevilla, which has given its backing to the proposal. We are happy with the work we have done and it's appropriate to mention this".

To conclude, Daniel Carriço, one of the captains, who has lifted this competition on three occasions with this club, had this to say: "We are an example of how an old stadium con be reformed to be one of the best. Football lives within our stands like nowhere else in the world, because the fans cheer for you from the beginning, right up until the final whistle. It will also be an important event for the city, because it will bring fans from different countries. Sevilla FC is ingrained into the history of the Europa League and to host a final is going to be special. I would love it if we could play in it".
