On Sunday night, Sevilla FC recorded another win at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, their third on the bounce at home, against Getafe. Once again, one of the star men was summer arrival Lucas Ocampos, who has started the season off on spectacular form, racking up numbers that are already equal to those of last season.
Jesús Navas was the man who played the Argentine through on goal who, taking the ball in his stride, dinked it slightly over the outstretched leg of David Soria, and knocked it in the back of the net to assure Sevilla FC of another three points. The former Marseille man notched, thanks to that goal, his third strike in La Liga with Sevilla; after the goals against Eibar and Real Sociedad. By being on the scoresheet against Getafe CF, Ocampos is now the player who has been directly involved in the most Sevilla goals this season: with three goals and one assist.
Ocampos has scored three times and assisted once in La Liga; whilst also scoring twice for his national team, Argentina
Likewise, Ocampos has also achieved something else noteworthy. The man, who was born in Quilmes, with the two goals he scored for Argentina, has already matched his goalscoring record from last season with his former club - and we're not even at the end of October. In the 2018/19 season, Lucas Ocampos played 40 matches for Marseille; whereas, at the moment, he has only played in 9 encounters for the Nervión-based side. Digging deeper, the winger played more than 3,200 minutes for the French side and, up until now, he has only played 761 for Sevilla FC.
The physical presence and the work the he does for the team, has made him an indispensable piece of the puzzle for Julen Lopetegui's side. In addtion, he has formed a great partnership and connection with his teammate on that side of the pitch, Jesús Navas, who never stops getting up the pitch to help him. Without doubt, he is a player who gives his all for the team and one of the great ones who has hit the ground running at the Sánchez-Pizjuán. Most importantly, the fans recognise this, and show their appreciation.
