SEVILLA FC RETURN FROM BREAK AND LOOK TO BUILD ON A GOOD OCTOBER

Once again, the international break is over and club football returns. After the third international break of the season so far, La Liga returns and Matchday 14 will take place this weekend, with a third of the season already complete. Sevilla FC, just like they did after the break in September, will start the re-start as the away team as they travel to Valladolid to face Real Valladolid on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 21.00.

The team from Nervión, who will now be in action up until the Christmas break, are looking to be more ambitious and put on some more impressive statistics - just like they did after the October international break. Going back to them, in those 22 days, Lopetegui's side played seven game - five in La Liga and two in the UEFA Europa League, and they finished up with a record of five wins and two draws.

Separating the two competitions, Sevilla won 11 out of a possible 15 points in the league; with wins over Levante, Getafe and Betis, and draws against Valencia and Atlético Madrid. This meant that Sevilla finished the first third of the league season with 24 points and sitting in fourth place in the league table: level on points with Atlético, and only a point behind the two leaders (who have played one game fewer). On the European side of things, Sevilla qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League as group winners, after beating Dudelange twice over the double-header.

From now and until Saturday 21st December, where they will travel to face RCD Mallorca, Sevilla have eight games to play: five in La Liga, two in the Europa League and one in the Copa del Rey, where they will travel to Galicia to face Bergantiños. In the league, Sevilla will be looking to keep their good run going against Valladolid, Leganés, Osasuna, Villarreal and the aforementioned Mallorca. On the European side of things, they have two final group games against Qarabag, in the Sánchez-Pizjuán, and APOEL, away from home in Cyprus. Although already through as group winners, Sevilla will no doubt be approaching these games as if they were any other.

Overall, Lopetegui's side will be looking to bring 2019 to a close with ambition and the style that Lopetegui and his coaching staff are imposing on the team. This has been evident as the team has only been behind for 111 minutes combined this season in the thirteen league games combined with the four European outings. The first stop that awaits the team in order for them to continue this momentum, is the José Zorrilla.
